It started with a rough patch in Marian Serge’s mouth. Months later, her dentist, Dr. Griffin Cross, discovered the cause: Gongylonema pulchrum, an extremely rare parasite in humans. That alone makes this a remarkable medical mystery. But it’s not why we wanted to tell the story.

This is a story about a dentist who wouldn’t stop looking, a patient who trusted him, and what can happen when someone cares enough to keep searching for an answer. Because when something is wrong, we’d all like to believe someone will care enough to keep looking.

And sometimes, someone does.
